London, July to.
Under the auspices of the National Union the Women’s Suffrage Societies to the number of ten thousand, including many delegates from all over the country, held a demonstration yesterday in Trafalgar Square in favour of Mr Shackleton’s Bill. There were six platforms for speakers and innumerable banners, streamers, symbolical colours and devices were in evidence.
Among the new civil list pensions are the following:—Thomas Bryant, surgeon, j£ioo, for services in the advancement of surgery ; Richard Whiteing, in consideration of the literary merits of his writings; Professor Harry Seeley’s widow, ; and Lady Monson, These ladies are pensioned on account of their late husband’s services.
