THERE OF BUTTER.
FARE in retail values. Wellington, July 5. There is much cutting going on and the consumer is getting the benefit of it, A few days ago the price of butter to grocers had fallen id per lb., namely from is o}4d per pound wholesale, to 11 }4 d per lb. On Saturday two firms cut the price to io}4d per pound, the butter to sell at is retail. Yesterday one of them returned to leaving one firm in the market selling brands which were previously sold for not a fraction under is oj£d except for a discount of 2 x / 2 per cent., at The ioj4d is, however, net. The cause is the disbandment of the Wellington Butter Committee.
