LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

FOUR RE-APPOINTMENTS

The Government decided yesterday to re-appoint the Hons. H. F. Wigram, of Christchurch, T. K. Macdonald, of Wellington, W. Beehan, of Auckland, and S. Thorne George, of Auckland, to the Legislative Council for a further term of seven years- It is understood that it is not intended to re-appoint the Hon. Mahuta, whose term of office has also expired. As far as can be gathered, the Government will not in the meantime fill fhe vacancies in the Council caused by the deaths of Hon. H. Feldwick (Otago), the Hon. R. H. J. Reeves (Nelson), the Hon. Jas, Holmes (West Coast), and the Hon. F. Trask (Nelson).
