FOOTBALL.

Saturday’s senior fixture played on the racecourse, between Awahouand Mauawatu, was terminated early in the second spell on account of the visiting team walking off the field. The gams up to this point had been fairly close, Awahou having slightly the best of it. For the majority of the first spell the play, which was almost entirely forward, hovered near the centre of the field, although on several occasions forward rushes by the blacks carried play into the visitors 25’s. These rushes were invariably spoiled on account of the anxiety of the blacks to pick a ball up instead of using their feet. About the middle of the spell, Joe (Awahou’* scored from a forward rush. The kick at goal was a failure. This was the only score of the match. The second spell had only been going a few minutes when one of the Manawatu players (Burgess) was ordered off the field by the referee for rough play. This caused an argument amongst the Manawatu players and the referee, and resulted in the visiting captain taking his men off the field.

A meeting of the Foxton SubUnion will be held to-morrow night.

The Albion seniors will hold a practice in the Hall to-morrow night.
