COURSING.
The Palmerston North Coursing Club are to be congratulated upon having the Waterloo Cup run in the North Island. It will be years before it comes to Palmerston again, and should therefore attract a large gathering of sports. The club intend to make the Cup a decided success. Record entries have been received, and there is every promise that the Cup will be a particularly interesting contest. A grandstand has been erected at the Terrace End Plumpton, and other very necessary improvements have been made. The Club has been fortunate in securing about So fine strong hares for the season, so that the very best sport is assured. Permission has been given for a refreshment booth with afternoon tea, also a licensing booth on the grounds. Mr W. Simpler, secretary ot the New Zealand Coursing Association, and Mr J. R, Sewell, of Oamaru, the oldest judge in the colony, will arrive in Palmerston on Saturday next. The draw in connection with the Cup will take place in the large marquee on the grounds on Tuesday, the 21st inst. The Club have decided to charge the bookmakers a fee of £5 5s covering the three days’ sport.*
