LOCAL FOOTBALL.

The local Rugby Sub-Uuion should take the necessary steps to set up a Management Committee of gentlemen not actively connected with any of the clubs, to control rugby under the subunion’s jurisdiction. At present there is a lack of proper control, and club feeling enters too prominently into any subject that comes before the union for settlement. Further, a stricter discipline is required among spectators. There is too much betting taking place on the matches, and unless this business is put down with a firm hand and undesirables put off the field, local rugby will be shunned by all true sports. If, as we suggest, a committee of non-partisans were appointed it would do away with much that is bringing the game and players into disrepute.
