CORRESPONDENCE.
[to the editor.] Sir, —I am informed by one of the councillors that one of the objections against a municipal coal depot is that the Town Clerk wouldn’t have enough time to weigh the coal etc. I do not agree with this, for if the Town Clerk can find time to devote to Education Board affairs, and act as clerk to a local syndicate, district coroner, and one or two other things, he can surely find time to pull the lever of the coal-weighing machine, especially now as he has been given extra assistance in his clerical work. Why has not the Mayor made a move to start the coal depot? As a ratepayer I demand a little light on the subject.—l am, etc., Ratepayer.
