A GAS EXPLOSION.
THREE PEOPLE INJURED. NELSON, June 3. An explosion of iieeiyleiie g;is occurred in ;i generator shed belonging to W. R. May’s establishment, at Richmond. It blew up the shed and injured Mr May. his son. and a man named David flight, an employee. Mr May had lit- a match in the shed w hen the escaping gun caught alight, and an explosion followed. High! was most injured, as he was buried in the debris of a portion of the shed. May and his son were literally blown out- of the slu'd, and the marvel is how they ('.scaped with only bruises and abrasions, Mr May's beard being nearly burnt- off. Only yesterday Mr May's butler factory in tlie same establishment was burnt down. Later. Tlie throe victims were painfully but not dangerously injured. One of the valves were faulty, so the generator was emptied and the inside, was being examined when the tap was inadvertently turned on, causing an explosion. The plant was not. damaged. The gas is still being used.
