THE FOXTON HARBOUR.
Commenting on the recent meeting of the Foxton Harbour Board held in Palmerston, the Standard concludes by saying that the Board “has decided that a deputation wait on the Hon. Millar and ask him to favourably consider a proposal for the purchase of the wharf by the Board. In the interests of shipping and the whole of this part of the coast, it is to be hoped the deputation succeeds in its mission. It may not be out of place to remind the Foxton element on the Board that Palmerston is just as anxious as the port itself to have matters put on a proper footing. A tendency is noticeable to resent advice and assistance emanating from Palmerston, and to ignore the help of members who do not come from Foxton. For complete success it is necessary that all should combine and that the parochial spirit should be eliminated entirely from the work that is in hand. We trust it will not be necessary to again refer to the conduct of the Board’s affairs in this connection.”
