PICKED UP ON THE BEACH.

The following message was picked up inside a bottle on the local beach one day last week by Mr Wilson, fisherman. It is written on a leaf of a note book in ink-pencil. We will forward a copy of the Heraed on to the supposed author, but in our opinion we suspect a little joke. The note is as follows :—“ Newcastle, January Ist, 1910. Whoever finds the note in this bottle, please communicate with Peter Bowling, secretary Coal Miners’ Union, Newcastle. He will understand. Please state where found.”
