FIRE AT SHANNON.
A serious lire occurred at Shannon oii .Monday evening, resulting in the destruction of a number of buildings. It is reported that the lire originated in MouteiUi’s billiard saloon, and by the time the liames were discovered the building was well on lire, and tanned by a stiff breeze it spread rapidly. The largo number of willing workers who were quickly on the spot were greatly handicapped, hut by persistent effort they succeeded in saving other property that otherwise would have been consumed. The billiard saloon was gutted, and the Silver Grid was burned out, aiit4 Htansell’s auction mart was destroyed. The Shannon Hoarding House suffered in a similar manner, .fortunately the wind tell during the early hours of the morning, and many willing hands with buckets of water drenched the adjacent buildings, which were threatened by the flames. Insurances are not yet ascertainable.
