HALLEY S COMET.
Mr Clement Wragge thinks there is a possibility of this world’s denizens being slightly pcfisoned and slightly indisposed, but with no more serious consequences. 11 I do not think there is the slightest possibility of our coming into collision with the head or nucleus of Halley’s comet,” said Mr Wragge, but we may sweep through the upper part of the tail. Assuming that it contains gasses sensitive people may for a few hours feel slightly indisposed. I do not say that they will, but it is possible. Somewhere between 17th and 18th May is the time when we may expect developments. People mnst not be alarmed at the sensational reports which have appeared in some of the newspapers, emanating from one of the European centres, and predicting earthquakes, tidal waves and other troubles. Even if, in the wisdom of the infinite, we are to be asphyxiated, there is the satisfaction of knowing that we will all go together, and we will be scrambling for accommodation on the astral plane ! ”
