A SHOCKING TRAGEDY.
Sydney, April 19, -0 A shocking tragedy has occurred at Willoughby, about five miles north of Sydney.
The body of an eight-year-old girl, daughter of a labourer named Phillips, has been found buried in the bush, a short distance from the home where she lived with her parents. There is a wound in the head and a deep gash in the throat, almost severing the head. The girl was reported on Satur* day to be missing, and the police have been searching ever since. The body was discovered through a man, who was gathering flowers, noticing that the ground nad beei, recently stirred.
As a result of statements made by Mrs Phillips and a servant, the police have detained Phillips. Sensational developments are expected.
