The main building was completely destroyed. The house cost ,£750 to build and Mr Bergensen had expended from ,£4O to ,£SO on its repair. The insurance amounted to ,£4OO iu the New Zealand Insurance office.

The cause of the fire is a mystery but it is stated that a swagger was seen iu the vicinity yesterday afternoon.
