FOOTBALL.

The annual general meeting of the Albion Football Club is advertised to be held in the Mauavvatu Hotel on Thursday evening, at S o’clock. A full attendance of members and intending members requested.

At the annual meeting of the Manawatu Rugby Union held at Palmerston North last night, a letter was read from the Rougotea Club asking to be allowed to play in the Manawatu Union, instead of the Foxton Sub-Union. If this could not be done they would not play for the P'oxton Sub-Union. Mr Pawson thought the}' should be allowed to come in. P'oxton Sub-Union had not shown itself worth considering. Sandon also wanted to come in with a senior team.

Mr Ongley said the P'oxton Sub-Union had been so conducted that its matches were settled in court with the Magistrate as referee. If Foxton had managed its football as Orona Sub-Union had done there would not have been trouble. They should take Rougotea in, and give every facility to it and other country teams. Palmerston teams should travel more to the country teams, as was done in Taranaki.

The chairman said there were no facilities for Rougotea and Sandon to get to P'oxton, but there were facilities for them to come to Palmerston and P'eilding. It was finally resolved, on the motion of Mr Armstrong, to refer the matter to the Management Committee, with power to admit Rongotea, and Sandon when it applied.

The resolution passed referring the matter to the management committee with power to admit Rongotea and Sandon, practically nullifies the motion of last year fixing the Foxton Sub-Union’s boundaries, and is another instance of the manner in which the affairs of the Mauawatu Union are mismanaged. The remarks made by Messrs Pawson and Ongley as to the local sub-union’s management of its affairs are uncalled for. What do these gentlemen know about it ? Further, if it comes to a question of mismanagement, the Manawatu Union can give the local sut -union a substantial lead, and then beat them “ hands down-” Mr Pirani voiced the opinion that there were no facilities for the Sandon and Rougotea teams ? get to Foxton, and there were facilities for them to get to Palmerston. Would Mi Pirani kindly state what these facilities are ? The whole question will be discus ;d at the annual meeting of the sub-union, and it will then be decided what action is to be taken.
