LABOUR TROUBLES.

London, Feb. 24. The Tiroes Washington correspondent states the Philadelphia strike is attributable to political corruption. The Republican machine in the city is a by-word for dishonesty, particularly iu connection with the tramways. Over 750 cars have been destroyed. The total casualties have reached a thousand, the dead and dying number 12 and the seriously injured 91, including 31 policemen. One car depot has been dynamited.

The Militia were posted at 20 yard intervals, but proved a fiasco. The women struck them with tiu bayonets and cut off the Militiamen’s buttons as souvenirs.

The gaols are overcrowded, and business is paralysed. The trials of the prisoners have begun, sentences ranging from two to sis years.
