BRUTAL ASSAULT.
ON A LITTLE GIRL.
Auckland, February 25,
A girl aged 13 years was attacked by a man at Warkworth and assaulted so seriously that she had to be removed to the Auckland Hospital. The girl’s cries drew the attention of a young man named Oakes, who rushed to her assistance. The assailant is alleged to have threatened Oakes with a knife. When Oakes rushed at him he bolted. This is the third known outrage committed in the Rodney district in a short period, and parents of children are getting anxious. The police have arrested a man named William J. F. Moore and charged him with the offence.
