THE LOAN PROPOSALS.
We hope the ratepayers will interest themselves in the loan proposals to be submitted to them at a public meeting in the Masonic
Hall to-morrow night. The question of water and drainage for the borough has been discussed for some time, and the majority are in favour of a water and drainage scheme. There are others again who are content to continue the present disgusting sanitary pan business and restricted water supply. It is time Foxton threw over its three-penny bit balancing policy, and extended itself in order to come into line with modern ideas. The extra rates, to cover the cost of loan, will be more than compensated for in many ways. The point is to let people think the matter out for themselves. The Council tonight will confer with the engineer, Mr Climie, and have everything in readiness for to-morrow night’s public meeting, which we hope will be well attended.
