HIMATANGI v. FOXTON,

This match was played on the Himatangi pitch yesterday afternoon and after an interesting game resulted in a win for the home team by 18 runs. Foxton batted ->• first and at one stage of the innings it looked as if they were all going to be dismissed for a very small total, Sefton and Evans failing to score and Robinson being snapped in the slips after notching three. However the “tail,’’ made a fairly good stand and brought the total up to 57 before the last man was dismissed. The only double figure scorers were Osboldstone ir, Munro n and Whibley 10. This game was Osboldstone’s first appearance in local cricket and it is to be hoped that that it will not be his last as, with practice, he should develop into a fairly good bat. Witton and Redgrave accounted for all the wickets, the former capturing five at a cost of 16 runs and the latter four for 34. Himatangi made a bad beginning, their captain being bowled before a run had been scored. However, Redgrave and Albrey put a different complexion on affairs, bringing the total up to 51 before a separation was effected. After the dismissal of these two batsmen, the rest of the team did not make any stand at all, the trundling of Evans being too good. The tenth wicket fell with the score at 75. Albrey 27 and Redgrave 22 were the only double figure scorers. Of the Foxton bowlers, Evans was “ out on his own,’’ being responsible for the downfall of six of the Himatangi batsmen at a cost of only ten runsThe visiting team was entertained at afternoon tea by the home club.
