MAYOR DIES AT COUNCIL TABLE.
Christchurch. February 21. Mr Hayes, Mayor of Woolston, died suddenly while presiding over a meeting of the Woolston Borough Council to-night. The deceased was subject to heart trouble and a certificate to that effect will be given by a doctor. Deceased was formerly a police constable, and retired some years ago on superannuation.
