LONGBURN FREEZING WORKS CASIw

JURY DISAGREE

The case against Archibald Muir charged with stealing from the National Mortgage and Agency Co., 37 cheques valued at over jCSoo, was heard before Mr Justice Chapman, at Palmerston on Thursday.

The jury retired shortly after three o’clock, and when the Court rose at six, there seemed no prospect of a verdict, so they were locked up till the Court resumed at 7.45. They then filed into Court and the foreman announced that there was no prospect of a settlement. His Honour discharged the jury and stated that a re-trial would be held at the next sittings of the .Supreme Court.

Accused was released on the same bail as he previously held.
