LORD KITCHENER.

LEAVES FOR NEW ZEALAND.

Svdnkv, February 13

Lord Kitchener, aboard the H.M.S. Encounter, departed for New Zealand last night. There was a large gathering to bid farewell to his Lordship. He expressed gratification at the hospitality of the Australians and hoped his recommendations would be found acceptable and suitable and that they would do something towards the improvement of the defences of Australia.

He presented representatives of the senior cadet forces of the various States with colours worked by Lady Dudley, wife of the Governor-General.
