WOOL SALKS.
London, Feb. 5. The wool sales have closed firm, at top prices.

At the wool sales wool catalogued totalled 178,282 bales. There were sold for Home trade 80,000 bales, for the Continent Si,ooo bales, for America 14,000 bales, and 500 bales were held over. The average prices for greasy merinos fully maintained the December rates. Fine sorts advanced 5 per cent; all scoureds advanced 5 per cent; finer crossbreds barely maintained December rates ; coarser advanced from 5 to 10 per cent; top-making sorts showed the greatest rise. Slipes advanced from 5 to 10 per cent; merino lambs advanced 5 per cent, Te Pura top price n-kl, average lo^d.
