The Manawatu Herald. Thursday, February 3, 1910. WATER AND DRAINAGE.
Wk hope ratepayers are keeping the water and drainage proposals steadily in view, and will not allow themselves to be led by the nose by opponents of the scheme, who prefer to pieach the gospel of stagnation and thereby retard the progress of the town. Ratepayers should carefully consider the cost and satisfy themselves that the benefits of a water and drainage scheme are of far greater value than the comparatively small rate they will be called upon to pay annually for such modern and health-giving conveniences. Tind out the unimproved value of your section, and ascertain what the cost will be to //on —don’t listen to the mournful, random statements of the stick-in-the-mud. The house connections will bean initial extra cost, and the information in thisdespect will be ascertained by the Council and submitted to the public at an early date. We have no doubt that the Council will render assistance to ratepayers, by extending the time over which the payments for this purpose may be made. In the meantime, however, think the matter over.
