ALL SAINTS’ GARDEN FETE.
The Garden Fete held at All Saints’ Vicarage yesterday afternoon and evening, under the auspices of the Toadies Guild,was a pronounced success, both from a social and financial point of view. Tents were erected for the various stalls and complete arrangements were made for baud of willing Newman, M.P., who was to formally open the affair, was unavoidably absent and this duty devolved on the Mayor (Mr Stiles). The fine weather attracted a large attendance during the afternoon. In the evening the grounds presented a very pretty scene. The Borough Band marched from the town to the Vicarage and played a programme ‘ of spirited music during the evening. A capj.t^l programme of vocal and instru- ~ mental items was much appte- -< dated. Nail-driving and guessing competitions created a good deal of interest. A full report is unavoidably crowded out. The takings amounted to The secretarial duties were very ably carried out by Mr F. Woods.
