The Kaipara was towed into Calliope dock this morning. She struck the obstruction twice. For some thirty yards on the starboard side, right on the bulge, there is a rip measuring in some places iS inches wide. About amidship, right under the floor forward is another rip extending some 20 feet. Between 40 and 50 new plates will be required. The damage is estimated at fully £20,000. The nautical inquiry will open to-morrow morning.
