LORD FISHER.

London, January 25. Lord Fisher, of Kilverstone (formerly Admiral of the Fleet Sir John Fisher, created a Peer last November), retires to-day from the post of First Lord of Admiralty, in which he is ceeded by Admiral of the Fleet Sir Arthur Kyvet Wilson. Lord Fisher of Kilverstone was in the Crimean War. In the course of a long career in the Navy he became possessed of both theoretical and practical experience, while it is claimed that his administrative skill is unequalled. He is a master of gunnery, and has, at one time or another, held almost every im- - portant position in the Navy afloat or ashore. He was. one of the three who drew up the Army Reform Scheme. He has been named by Lord Rosebery “ the Kitchener of the Navy.”
