Charles Stirling,_ a swagger, was found drowned in the harbour this morning. He left a boardinghouse in Stafford Street yesterday to go to Ashburton by the first express. He had previously come from Teviot station. Wki.ungton, January 25. Two local booksellers were today fined £5 each for selling printed matter of an obscene nature (copies of New Zealand Truth). Pai.mkrston, N. January 26. A. H. Raines was arrested yesterday on a warrant from Invercargill charging him with failing to keep proper books of account. He was remanded to Invercargill till February 2. Bail was allowed.
