FLOODS IN FRANCE.
Paris, January 25
The heavy rainfall in Paris persists, and the river Seine has risen 25 leet. The Seine is above the roadway, and the water is precolating through the embankment in many places. Immense quantities of building material and cement, which were being discharged on the quays, were swept away.
The electric light in the Chamber ot Deputies is useless, as the machinery in the basement is under water.
All electric tramways have stopped running. Two thousand refugees, driver;, from their homes at Alfort, have* arrived in Paris. All the rivers in France, excepting the Garronne and Dordogne, are flooded. London, January 25 The Times’ Paris correspondent says that it is scarcely an exaggeration to say that nearly half of France is under water. Paris. January 25. Owing to the floods, the Renault motor-car works are dosed. At Billaucourt 2500 people are workless.
