DOG REGISTRATION.
It may be of interest to those in the borough, who have not ye: registered their dogs, to read the following points of interest from the “ Dog Registration Act, 1908”: —Any person who keeps'any dog of a greater age than six months for a period of fourteen days without causing such dog to be registered shall be liable to a fine of £5 tor every dog over and above the amount of the registration fee. The fee for registration is fixed by the Act at 10s per dog, but a local authority may reduce it if they think fit.
Any drover, shepherd, or any farmer shall be entitled to have registered any number of dogs not exceeding three which are kept solely tor the purpose of herding or driving sheep or cattle, at a fee of as 6cl each.
All dog owners are liable to be fined for non-registration after the first day of January in each year. Dogs without collars having the proper registration labels may be destroyed by any person upon whose land such dog is found, or any person authorised by the local authority.
