THE KNYVETT CASE.

The indignation meetiug held to-night in connection with the dismissal of Captain F. B. Knyvett from the volunteer force was so largely attended that, in addition to upwards of a thousand persons who gained admission, several hundred had to remain outside.
A resolution was enthusiastically carried requesting the Government to set up a Royal Commission to enquire into the whole circumstances, and, pending its decision, to reinstate the dismissed officer. This was moved from the chair by Mr C. F. Parr, seconded by Mr G. L. Peacock, and supported in vigorous speeches by Messrs W. F. Massey (Leader of the Opposition party), A. K. Glover and C. 11. Poole, M’s.P. A further resolution was carried by acclamation setting up a deputation, comprising Messrs J. S. Dickson, S. Nicholson, G. L. Peacock, and W. B. Leylaud, to wait upon the Minister for Defence in support of the first resolution.
The meeting was most enthusiastic, and closed with three cheers ior Captain Kny vett and his men.
