Economies totalling ,£70,000 have been effected in the working .expenses ot the railways during the first year of office of the present Minister, the Hon. J. A. Millar, who has further expressed his intention of cutting down expenditure. He proposes to convene a conference of district traffic managers as soon as the financial year closes, to consider a scheme to reduce the goods service to wayside stations.
