DEATH OF A JOCKEY.

INOUKST ON WHITEHOUSE,

The inquest touching the death of Frederick Charles Whitehouse, who died as the result of injuries received on the second day of the Rangitikei races on January 3rd was held ai Palmerston N. on Tuesday. Mr R. Edwards, J.P., acted as Coroner.

Evidence was given by Dr. Martin, A. V. Whitehouse, brother of deceased, Charles Price, jockey, and Sidney Piggott, groom,

A verdict was returned that deceased met his death accidentally whilst riding a racehorse on the Rangitikei racecourse on the 3rd January. A rider was added that Racing Clubs should do all in their power to keep the public away from the hurdles, as this was apt to draw the attention of the horses competing in the race.
