CAPTAIN KNYVETT.

Auckland, Yesterday. Captain Kuyvett has been notified by the Board which inquired into his alleged insubordination that he has been dismissed from the service. The sequel to what is known throughout the Dominion as the Knyvett case was made known this morning, when captain F. B. Knyvett received information that he had been found guilty, aud dismissed from the service. The decision has caused great indignation here. To-night was the ordinary drill night of Captain Knyvett’s company —No. 1 Company, New Zealand Garrison Artillery. One hundred and seventy-three men were on parade, aud Captain Knyvett, who appeared in mufti, made a statement of the position, and shook hands with the men individually. It was unanimously decided to throw in their belts and accoutrements, aud refuse to participate in further parades until an inquiry had beeu held into the action of the Defence Council, and Captain Knyvett reinstated. A very enthusiastic demonstration then took place, Captain Knyvett being carried shoulder high by his company, 10 the accompaniment of “ For He’s a Jolly Good Fellow.”
