MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD.

The monthly meeting of the Moutoa Drainage Board was held in the Board’s office last night. Present Messrs B. G. Gower (chairman), H. 6. Hammond, F. S. Easton, O. R. Robinson and W. S. Carter. The clerk reported the amount to credit of the general account to be ,£56 19s. The amount of rates still outstanding was £l6 3s id. Since last meeting wages amounting to ,£l6 3« had been paid. Several letters were read from Mr Ward, the Board’s engineer, in respect to the crane which the Board has arranged to hire from the Government. Mr Ward was present at a trial of the crane at Petone workshops, and although satisfied that it would do the work required at Moutoa, it was half a ton heavier than specified, and he would not recommend it being used with the Preestman’s grab. He had, therefore, arranged with the general manager of railways for the Board to have a stronger crane, at present being used at Pencarrow. The rent of this would be los per day, and ,£1 per week for the grab. The crane and grab should arrive in Foxton within the next two or three 'Weeks. Accounts amounting to £iS 5s jd were passed for payment against loan account, and £9 as id against general account, after which the meeting terminated.
