THE WANGANUI HANDICAPS. Wanganui, TuesdayThe first heat is to start at 2.30 p.m. and promises to be a very exciting contest. Arnstthe world’s champion concedes Felton, of New South Wales, and winner of the Foxton Handicap, i3sec., and Kemp i6sec. Felton is said to have improved since he rowed at Foxton, and a keen struggle in this heat is contemplated. It is considered here that if Arust can win his heat he will show the way home in the final. In the second heat W. Webb, ex-champion of the world, is virtually scratch man, starting off the 3-secouds mark, and his opponents are Mitchell (i3sec.) and “Dick” Green (23sec.) Webb is not at his best. The contestants in the third heat will be Hagney (rosec.), “Bob” Green (issec.), and Te Rawhiti (25360) Hagney has made an impression on local enthusiasts, and is looked upon with great favour. “Victor” in the Wanganui Herald predicts that the heats will result as follow :—First heat, Arnst; second heat “Dick” Green ; third heat, Hagney.
