BOWLING GREEN.
All interested in the good old game of bowls are specially requested to be present at the meeting to be held in the Council Chambers to-morrow night at 8 o’clock, for the purpose of forming a club and putting down a green iu Foxton. It is a matter for surprise that our leading citizens have not ere this put dowu a green where they can spend their leisure time in social enjoyment. We understand there are several ex-members of other clubs now resident iu the town, and we feel sure they will take an active interest in establishing a green in Foxton. We are pleased to note that the Mayor is taking a leading part in the formation of the club, aud MrClimie.civil engineer, who has laid down several greens, has kindly consented to take the levels and supervise the work free of cost. The financial side should not prevent any grave obstacles. The owner of the site where it is proposed to put down the green, has consented to meet the club very generously and the balance of money required should be easily arranged. We hope as a result of to-morrow’s meeting that a green will be in playing order this time next year.
