Auckland, December 27. William F. Butters, a dentist i>Jp Queen Street, was found dead J wai his rooms this morning, withAgj glass containing cyanide of sium alongside him. He wKgr last seen alive on Christmas It is understood he had been unsuccessful in mining speculations. Rotorua, December 26. Reginald Lowbridge Biggs attempted to commit suicide yesterday morning. He was found in the cemetery at eleven o’clock, with a bullet wound in his headA bullet had entered just oveT the left eye, and made its exit near the right eye. A revolver was found near him. Biggs was found near the grave of Mrs Biggs, who died suddenly on 9th September last. He. was removed to the Sanatorium, still alive, and an operation may save his life. The left eye is much shattered. Biggs has been grieving over the loss of. his wife. Auckland, December 26th. Frederick Gapes, watchmaker and jeweller,, of Pitt-street, committed suicide on Friday by drinking cyanide of potassium in his workshop. He entered the shop, called out to his wife “Here,s luck,” and then went and lay down on the dining-room sofa, where his wife found him insensible. He died six minutes later. DujsrEDtN, December 2s. A man named Alexander Stewart, 79 years of age, committed suicide by shooting himself this morning. Deceased, who resided near Anderson’s Bay, appeared to be in his usual health when he. rose, but after having breakfast he went to some trees surrounding the house, and resting a gun on the fork of a , tree, apparently pulled the the charge going through his* heart. Deceased had been complaining of pains in his back for some time.
