Robert Boox, an inmate of the Costley Home, was injured by a vehicle on September 13th, and has since died in the haspital. Vincent Maloney, aged rB, was drowned at Karaka Beach, near Pukehohe, yesterday. A party of young men went to the beach for fishing, and Maloney and John Best went in to bathe. Maloney got into the channel, which is narrow, but eight feet deep. He was a fair swimmer, but was soon in difficulties. Best went to his assistance and was pulled under, having great difficulty in saving himself. Maloney’s body was found an hour later. He was the son of a widow living at Puni. The wife of Mr J. W. Knight was admitted to the hospital some' time ago suffering from burns caused by her clothing catching fire. She died yesterday. At the inquest Dr. Thompson stated Mrs Knight was suffering from extensive burns on the right arm and side. On Wednesday skin-graft-ing became absolutely necessary, and was successfully performed. Dater hemmorhage of the bowels set in, resulting in death, which was due primarily to the burning. The jury returned a verdict accordingly, adding a rider that in its opinion the husband should have been informed of the intention to perform the operation. The Star’s Taupo correspondent wires that there was a magnificent outburst from the Ngaruboe volcano at seven this morning. A huge column of ashes and smoke was ejected to a height of about three thousand feet. The volcano is now pouring out huge volumes of steam and ashes,
