WATER AND DRAINAGE.
ENGINEER'S REPORT. ESTIMATED COST At last night’s Council meeting Mr H. W. Clitnie, the civil engineer appointed by the Council to submit a report on the proposed water and drainage schemes for the borough, submitted for the Council’s consideration his report, also forwarding a plan showing the portions of the borough that would be served by the proposed water supply scheme. Mr Climie states that he has made ample allowance for all contingencies and the cost of the scheme will not be more than his estimate. His estimate of the total cost of scheme for water supply is ,£10,195 2s, and for a sanitary drainage system £B6~o 14s. He estimates the annual cost to the borough at £I2OO, being £940 for interest and £260 for working expenses and up-keep on engines and plant. The full report will appear in our next issue. It was decided to hold a special meeting to discuss the schemes on a date to be fixed by the Mayor.
