THE PRICE OF BREAD.
fTo the Editor*] Sis. I would like to ask through your paper why the price of bread has not been reduced in Fox ton* For the past nine: months we have paid 4d cash per 2lb loaf, which does not compare with other towns where bread can be bought for 3d over counter or 3|d delivered for cash. In ordinary places, when flour rises and falls in price the bread is treated likewise- Not so in Foxtou The consumer is notified of the rise in good time, but, he waits in vain for the fall. Sir, the hardest hit man is the worker with a family, who can ill-afford to pay exorbitant prices for his food, and who could do with those overcharged half pennies to give bis children a Christmas treat. . If you will kindly insert something to this effect I believe some abler pen than mine will take the matter up and bring about the reduction we have waited for so long, and that the bakers do not seem willing to grant without being asked. Thanking you in anticipation. —•! am, etc., Consumer.
