C. G. Thurston and Mary Jane Thurston were charged before Mr Young, S.M., with keeping liquor for sale and with selling in a nolicense district. The prosecution alleged that the accused ordered supplies by writing and using fictitious names, and when the liquor was delivered fictitious names were useed on the receipts. Thurston pleaded not guilty, but after the case opened, Mr Hanlou admitted guilt as to keeping liquor for sale as far as Thurston was concerned. Inspector Mitchell thereupon withdrew the information against Mrs Thurston, stating that she was dominated by her husband.
Thurston had previously been convicted and fined .£SO, and the magistrate sentenced him to the maximum penalty—three mouths' imprisonment.
