THE ROPE WORKS.
FLANS FOR THE FUTURE. Messrs Win. Ross and Son, Ltd., are at present busy clearing the ground in preparation lor rebuilding the works. Plans of the proposed - building are being discussed and a commencement of the work will be made almost immediately, . Mr Alex. Ross will shortly leave for England for the, purpose of purchasing new machinery, which will be the most up-to-date procurable. It is expected that a portion of the works will be ready to start in about three or four months 'time and the whole will be in full swing / before next harvest. Although it is not possible at present to ascertain whether any of the old will be of further use after overhauling, the firm does not anticipate that it will be of much value. They intend to instal an absolutely new and up todate olant, and if they then find that portions of the old machinery can be repaired it will be used in cases of emergency.
