SCULLING HANDICAP.
As our readers are aware there is to be a sculling handicap on the Manawatu River on Thursday and Friday next, particulars of which are denied this paper. According to contemporaries the races will be rowed at about 1.30 p,m. each day. , Constable Woods has been appointed by the Minister of Marine to control and regulate all traffic on the river on the days in question, iu such manner as he may deem necessary for the safety of life and property. The river is open to all boats pleasure or otherwise, without lee. Private owners of boats can use the river as they deem fit provided they do not in any way interfere with the race. . Messrs Levin and Co. advertise that they will run the s-s. Planet and s.s. Kate on Thursday and Friday, upon arrival of the trains from Palmerston North, to convey passengers to' the course. Return fare 3s, which does not include admission to the ground.
