The Manawatu Herald. Tuesday, November 30, 1909.

Mr Driver complained to his audience last night at the Public Hall that the appointments of the buildiug were about the worst he had experienced. He said the building had not improved since he had previously visited Foxton in 1883. Mr Driver is not the only professional who has complained about the same building and it is a matter of surprise that the local authority licenses the hall under existing conditions. When the late school concert was in progress the thought of what would happen to the little children if a conflagration took place passed through the writer’s mind. Barge doors, which should throw open on either side of the building at a moment’s notice, should be provided and a water supply laid on to the buildiug aud other appointments should be in keeping with that portion of the Act which governs public buildings. We hope the Borough Council will look into the subject now that we have again diifected public attention to it. *
