MR DRIVER’S ENTERTAINMENT .
PUBLIC HALL, MONDAY
EVENING
In the Public Hall on Monday evening next Mr T. W. Driver, the famous magician, will give his entertainment of magic and antispiritualism. Ever since he crossed swords with Bailey, the alleged spirit medium, a few months ago, he has had the sympathy and support of the public, and he has been greeted with bumper houses in every town he has visited. But Mr Driver is no stranger to Foxton, for over twenty-five years ago —in 1883 —he appeared in the Public Hall under his professional name, Prof. Robert Kuaarz. In 1887 he again gave performances in our town, in conjunction with his wife, and he will again be assisted by Mrs Driver, when he presents his now famous entertainment on Monday evening, which has been given in many lands, and before many notable people. While in Melbourne Mr Driver had the honour of presenting his entertainment by command at Government House, for which he received a highly complimentary testimonial from his Excellency the Governor and the Countess of Hopetoun. A special feature on Monday evening will be Driver’s production of “apports,” animate and inanimate, under the most rigid test conditions, Mr Driver being stripped to the skin and thoroughly examined by a committee from the audience before being placed in the bag. This is the test which Bailey refused to submit to, and which Driver nightly undergoes, A large audience should greet Mr and Mrs Driver when they again come forward with their magic, mirth, and mystery on Monday evening next.
