MOUTOA DRAINAGE BGARD ELECTION.
The second election of five trustees for the Moutoa Drainage Board was held yesterday. All but three of the voters residing in the district recorded their votes including Mr John Stevens, who came by motor car from Bulls. The number of names on the electors roll was 37, giving a total of 82 votes, of which 55 were recorded. Out of the 27 votes which were not recorded 20 are held by absentees and the remaining seven by the three electors who were not sufficiently interested in the election to take the trouble to record their votes. The result of the poll was declared by the Returning Officer, Mr W. Bock, shortly before half past six. The Chairman of the old Board, Mr B. G. Gower, headed the poll with a total of 50, there facing only five voters in the district who did not think that chairman Gower should be reelected. Mr O. R, Robinson secured second place with 37 votes. The totals recorded for the other candidates were: Messrs F. S. Easton 36, H. G. Hammond 31, W. S. Carter 31 and W. E. Barber 29. The first , five were elected. The new Board comprises three members of the old Board, namely, Messrs B. G. Gower, F. S. Easton and H. G. Hammond, one member, Mr W. S. Carter, who was unsuccessful at the previous election, and Mr 0. R. Robinson, The voting at the first election was as follows : Messrs Easton 40, Hammond 38, Gower 35, Barber 34, Symons 29 and Carter 27, The first meeting of the new Board will be held on Friday, the 19th instant.
