MOUTOA DRAINAGE BOARD ELECTION.
The second poll since the coustition of the Moutoa Drainage Board lor the election of five trustees will take place at the office of the Board on Monday next, between the hours of 9. a.m and 6 p.m. Four members of the old Board are standing for re-election, namely Messrs B. G. Gower (chairman), W. E. Barber, F. S. Fasten and H. G. Hammond. Mr J. N. Symons was the other member of the old Board of Trustees, but having left the district he will not be a candidate. The two new candidates who are offering their services are Messrs W. S. Carter and O. R. Robinson. Mr Carter was an unsuccessful candidate at the last election. He is a representative of the “top end ” ot the district and is a settler with initiative and administrative ability-necessary qualifications in any aspirant to public life. He is an interested settler and has thorough a knowledge of the requirements of the district, and ratepayers will be conserving their best interests by returning him as one of their trustees.
Mr O. • Robinson, the other “new” candidate, is a wellknown settler and has a considerable area of property within the drainage district, and should make a useful trustee. His election is looked upon as a certainty. The old members of the Board, and particularly Chairman Gower, have devoted much time to the scheme in hand, and deserve the thanks of the ratepayers concerned. It is hoped that every voter will exercise his right on Monday next.
