HARBOUR BOARD MATTERS.
[To the Editor.]
Sir, —Comments in yours of the 9th inst., on my absence, call for an explanation. First, I had notice of a meeting of the Board, then I was notified that that meeting would not be held until the Hon. J. A. Millar paid bis promised visit to Foxton. I had to go to Wellington last Tuesday and returned on Thursday. It being late, I did not go to the office until Friday and then found the wire from the Board’s Secretary. Further, Thursday was our Council night and I could not have left that meeting. In staying away 1 am studying the Board’s financial interests. The Board has no funds : it has so far been unable to pay my travelling expenses, and I know of iof better objects to which to give ouels moneys When Mr Millar does visit Foxton, if notified in time, I shall certainly hope to attend.—l am, etc., H. Town 7 . Feilding, October n, 1909.
