THE FOXTON BAR.
HARBOUR MASTER'S REPORT.
The following is the Harbour*'' Master’s report on the local bar for the month of September : “ During, the month, to the best of my belief the depth of water at high water spring tides was xo feet, and 7 feet 6 inches at high water neap tides. The recent floods have cut into the south head and spit, causing the bar to work to the south, thus necessitating shifting both sets of bar beacons. ■
During the month the. river has been more or less in a flooded state which has been the cause of a great deal of extra work in connection with the buoys. The river from the bar to the wharf, with the exception of the crossing at Robinson’s, carries good water. At Hartley’s bend the river is steadily encroaching, the clay which formerly composed' they, bank being nearly all washecr away, leaving sand, which being undermined is continually slipping into the river.
